The K2O race spans across the Rideau Canal waterway starting from the Cataraqui Canoe Club in Kingston Ontario and ending at the Rideau Canoe Club by Hogs Back Lockstation. The race course comprises different water sections including river, lake and cut canal. Starting on the Cataraqui river, paddlers will make their way to the Kingston Mills Lock Station then continuing on the river which is broken up by small lakes and additional lock stations. The river then gives way to a series of large lakes that include Newboro and the Big Rideau. Approaching Smiths Falls the canal narrows again and remains relatively narrow for the remainder of the race. The river then makes its way through the quiet countryside passing by the occasional small townships. Approaching Manotick, the canal gets more populated as Ottawa looms. The last section of the race enters into Canada’s capital with it’s final push to the finish at the Rideau Canoe Club.
